Our Intangible Cultural Heritage is the way that we, as communities, live, work, worship, socialise and celebrate.  It helps to identify communities, celebrates our diversity, and reminds us of our continuity with the past.   The UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage aims to record the skills, artefacts and cultural spaces that make our traditions, and to safeguard them for future generations. This short series of podcasts looks at how the UNESCO 2003 Convention functions; the challenges of identifying and listing an item of intangible cultural heritage; the relationship between UNESCO and the community that owns the intangible heritage, and what that community might gain or lose by listing the heritage.
